Dakore Egbuson-Akande was born in Bayelsa on 14 October 1978 to Dakore Omobola Egbuson as a first child to a father of a construction contractor and a mother who worked as a caterer / homemaker. Prior to completing her high school education at Federal Government Girls’ College in Lagos and Bauchi, the thespian attended Corona School. She got admission to obtain a degree in Mass Communication at the University of Lagos (now Journalism in tertiary institutions in Nigeria). Dakore dropped out of university, however, citing incessant strike between the Universities’ Academic Workers Union and the federal government as what fuelled her decision to drop out.

As with most of her colleagues, Dakore began her career as a singer, but found that it would be difficult to have her breakthrough here so that she turned to acting and made her first appearance on TV in the TV drama called “Inheritance,” and a movie star was born from that moment.

She starred in films like “Men do Cry,” “Play Boy” and “Hole in the Heart” in the early years of her career. Her beauty added a fillip to get her romantic roles as she seemed to be a love interest of Jim Iyke, Emeka Ike or other attractive big boys from Nollywood. She won many hearts as her career ended,¬†then unexpectedly left the industry.

The actress claimed in an interview that she wanted to spend more time with her family and friends. However, during those moments she found love and needed time to groom her. Nevertheless, many speculated that Dakore left the acting scene because she was ordered by her father-in – law to do so, the actress disclosed nothing of that happening. And we believe her because before she found love, she ‘d already taken a break from the acting world.

She starred as Alex in the Ashionye Michelle Raccah ‘s film “Journey to Self” to make her come back into the industry. The film narrates the story of five childhood friends converging at the home of one of them who had just passed away , leaving behind a series of letters that describe their hardships through life. At the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards the film received a nomination for the category Achievement In Soundtrack. This was not the thespian’s bad attempt at a comeback.

She appeared as Isoken, an apparently wealthy woman without a husband, in the 2017 romantic comedy film “Isoken,” which concerned her mother to the extent that she paired her with an Edo man named Osaze played by Joseph Benjamin.

Dakore Egbuson-Akande appeared in As Remi ‘s 2018 Netflix film, “Chief Daddy.” Certain stars such as Ini Edo, Shafy Bello, Richard Mofe Damijo and Kate Henshaw appeared at the films. In 2019 Dakore starred in the suspense crime thriller film “The Set Up” alongside Jim Iyke, Tina Mba and Adesua Etomi-Wellington. The film is on Netflix, now.

Dakore is a personality on TV. In 2019, alongside Oluwaseun Olaniyan, she hosted the first edition of the multichoice Reality TV Show “Ultimate Love.” Many Nigerians criticized her performance, sharing opinions that Dakore does not carry any enthusiasm as a presenter to the table, nor was her partner spared. Some others, however, found her fascinating and blamed the show for having some surprise aspect in its content. Dakore has been a model for several brands, and once an ambassador of Amstel Malta. Also she is an Amnesty International ambassador.
