The title of Laycon on Google is given as a musical artist, not as a housemate of Big Brother naija. Of course, as at present, Laycon is a Big Brother naija housemate but it is now evident that his profile replaces a 71-day reality show. He is more of one that we’d hear about for years to come.
Brief Biography Of Laycon
Laycon was born on 8 November 1993, in Lagos. You might have seen his birth year given out elsewhere as 1994. This is an error that emanated from the fact that Laycon is 26 so from 2020 they remove 26 and arrive in 1994 (blogging is not for all). Laycon was born Olamilekan Agbeleshe Moshood. His first name Olamilekan can be literally translated as my weight has increased, which is generally meant to mean that thisone should bring me money.
Laycon’s has a modest start, as is evident from his comments and lockdown house attitude (this may be all strategic, but he has the benefit of doubt). Olamilekan is the sort of Lagosian who might think of Nigeria in a dual prism of Lagos and elsewhere. Raised in Lagos, he had his primary and secondary education in Lagos, And also studied at the University of Lagos, served in Lagos, and started earning a living at Lagos.
While we are sure that Laycon graduated from the philosophy department, we are not sure that in many quarters he graduated with a first-class as mouthed. But as for being the best graduating student he graduated with, this one is not true. In reality Laycon wasn’t even his department ‘s best graduating student.
We are sure of this because we have researched and found the person who actually graduated in Philosophy as the best one. His name is Tony Anichebe. And you needn’t take our words for it. Just go and read about him. Anichebe earned a CGPA 4.64. This CGPA does not look like the best in the school at large. Unilag is not a university which wallows through the misery of the failures of its students. A few years ago, a certain Ayodele Dada graduated with a perfect 5.0 CGPA. The point is while Laycon might be a top student, even in his department, he is not the best.
Laycon in the Big Brother Naija Lockdown House
Laycon ‘s time in the house (at least the first half that’s still going on) is one that’s too dominated by his relationship (or lack of it) with fellow housemate Erica with whom he wanted a romantic relationship.
Erica likes Laycon but has made it clear that it wasn’t romantic. She once said she was attracted to Kiddwaya physically but attracted to Laycon mentally. Laycon ‘s fans seemed upset at this rejection, accusing Erica of going for the money instead of the one she really cared about. There have been actions that suggested Erica was leading Laycon on as part of her plan to win the show.
Laycon told Erica not to stay away from him, as he couldn’t afford to stay close to her. Although Laycon was telling her to stay away from him, at first he didn’t seem to want to stay away from her (he even said he dreamt of kissing her), prompting BrightO to say and we’re paraphrasing: “You ‘re trying to curry pity so Erica will have compassion for you and accept you.”
Around the time of writing, Big Brother had just given Erica two strikes for violating the rules of the house and was wondering why Laycon had not come to sympathize with her. She seemed eager to eat and have her coffee.
Laycon’s Musical Career
Laycon’s early life and up to his time as a youth corps member and even as an office worker, one thing has dominated his consciousness and art. Being a musician and music. During his primary school days Laycon was told to sing and rap as a means of expression. But it wasn’t long that he broke the studio jinx for the first time and did an album. We don’t know which song he first released, but we know that “Fierce” is the most popular song in which he featured Reminisce and Chinko Ekun. The song made it to MTV Base Top 10 Nigerian songs and stayed there for weeks.
In April 2020, Laycon released an eight-song EP (extended play) titled “Who’s Laycon? ”. An extended play is the professional name for an album that’s in its entirety below thirty minutes. A complete album is expected to sum up to a minimum of 30 minutes, and the release of Laycon is 23 minutes.
Some of the EP songs include “Who is Laycon,” “Motivation” with Tinu, “Accolades” with Yusuf Kanbai, “Hiphop” with Deshinor, and the hit track “Fierce.”
Laycon’s IG handler posted on the platform in mid-August that the album released under the F.N.E Ltd Record label’s imprint had hit and surpassed two million streams across Apple Music, AudioMack, Spotify, Boomplay and Deezer platforms.
The Big Brother house is built to give fame to ordinary Nigerians, and to give them a platform to start whatever careers they choose. Laycon isn’t out of the big brother house yet and the platform already plays its famous role. Laycon is cashing out of Big Brother Avenue already.
